Tires

WHAT TIRE IS BEST FOR YOU?

CLINCHER TIRES
• Most commonly used tire system
• Replacements much easier to find
• Requires Rim liner
• Flat tires can be repaired with a patch, or the inner tube changed
• Installation requires a set of light tools called "tire irons"
• Immediate use after installation
• Some Thorn Resistant Tubes and Puncture Resistant Tires are now available

TUBULAR TIRES
• Require wheels with tubular rims
• Used by the majority of competitive cyclists
• Lower rolling resistance
• Lower Weight
• Better Cornering
• Tubular rims are lighter than clincher rims
• Higher pressure inflation than clincher tires - depending on model selected
• In case of a flat, the stability and safety of the rider is not affected as much as a clincher tire
• Can be ridden flat in case of an emergency
• Tire must be glued to the rim
• Flat tire repairs are not easy (does not apply to TUFO tubular tires in combination with TUFO sealant, the repair is easy, cheap and in many cases instant)

OPEN TUBULAR TIRES
• Open Tubulars work on Clincher rims.
• An open tubular is a tubular tire whose edges have not been sewn together.
• Flexible bead of Kevlar is sewn along the edges turning it into a clincher that performs almost as well as a tubular.
• As with a tubular, an open tubular is made with a high thread count unwoven casing.
• Also as with a tubular a cold treated tread application is used in the manufacturing process.
• For a cyclist who has no interest in using tubular rim glue and the time consuming job of repairing a flat tubular, the open tubular is an excellent choice.

TUBULAR CLINCHERS
• Switching from clinchers to tubular clinchers requires NO extra investment.
• You just replace three parts (tire, tube and liner) with only one tubular clincher tire.
• Revolutionary construction technique
• Made for clincher rims
• Lower rolling resistance than clinchers
• No need for rim liners
• Lower weight than clinchers
• No need to glue tire to rim
• The easiest and fastest installation, no tools required
• High inflation pressures available
• In case of a flat, the stability and safety of the rider is not affected as much as a clincher tire
• Immediate use after installation
• Construction and compactness is equal to tubular tires
• Riding properties are very close to tubular tires
• Easy flat repairs with TUFO sealant
